Purple Heron

There are at least two (2) Purple Heron @ Bidor and is quite a large bird with a very slender neck.
The first two photographs were taken when he sit motionless waiting for unwary prey.

This third photograph was taken when I was trying to get a closer shot of him and he fledged.

This disused mining pond is teeming with water birds i.e. Wading birds (Egret, Purple Heron, Oriental Pranticole) and Water birds (The Little Grebe, Water Hens, Red Wattled Lapwing, many Black-Backed Swamphen), not a bad place indeed.

At last, you managed to find time to go to Bidor. Good photos. You got quite close to the heron.

The neck looks like snake!.
Great in flight shoot. At ISO 200, you must be in really bright lighting.

Doc,

There are no trees there for shade, besides the reflection from the water from the mining pond makes it difficult to gauge the right exposure, still got much to learn.
