Birds of Kuala Tahan (Taman Negara)

I made a short trip to Kuala Tahan (Taman Negara) and was birding at Mutiara Resort and its surrounding trails. Spotted/heard these popular birds at various trails :-

  1. Banded Broadbill - heard

  2. Green Broadbill - with photograph

  3. Asian Paradise-Flycatcher - saw

  4. Scarlet Rumped Trogon - with photograph

  5. Crested Fireback (M) & (F) - with photograph

  6. Great Argus - with photograph

  7. Black-naped Monarch - with photograph

  8. Oriental pied Hornbill - heard many times

  9. Chestnut-breasted Malkoha - with photograph

  10. Blue Winged Leafbird - with photograph

  11. Mountain Imperial Pigeon - record photograph
It is by far the best birding spot that I have ever been to.

And here is a pair of Blue Naped Monarch (@Lubuk Simpon) busy preparing for nesting. There were not disturbed by my presence though I was less than 10 feet away, how kind. Notice that the Male is brighter than the female, it has a black breast stripe (photograph 3) and it has a small black crown. Beautiful bird.
