Banded Woodpecker

Caught this beautiful Banded Woodpecker feeding and what surprises me was that he was dead quite (unlike his other cousins), and I would not have spotted him if not of the scrubbing noise of the woody vegetation where he was feeding on (pic 2).

It was not easy to spot him, look at how well he blended in with the surrounding vegetations/environment.

Look at that claws, they are purposely built for tree climbing. The tail is used as a support.

Beautiful bird.
You noticed it during feeding, that why it remain quiet. Loud "kwee-kwee-kwee" sound can be heard during flight or calling it mate.
